iPad 3 is way too smaller and lighter than an HDTV, but you can have the high definition resolution on it and enjoy crispier images, you can also enjoy HD movies and HD games, also browse internet using the retina display. If you are tired of watching your favorite movies on a smaller screen then you can always project your iPad screen to HDTV using the internet streaming product called 'Apple TV' (Apple company itself manufactures and supports this product). This mechanism of projecting screen is called AirPlay.
For more information on Apple TV check out our section of Streaming players .
There are other third party apps available in Apple store that can help project the screen from your iPad,iPhone or iTouch to your Computer monitor like 'Air Display', but remember not to your HDTV.
Currently we cannot project our computer or iPad screen to HDTV using the internet streaming products like Roku or Sony or even the Internet enabled Blu ray players. Only Apple TV has that feature in it and it can project only the screen of iOS devices (iPad,iPhone or iTouch) and also Mac computer. Sony PS3 has a media server service that can play music, videos and photos from your computer but would not project your computer screen.
Using iPad, you can also control your TV as a remote with the help of a cable provider's app. We can also schedule recordings for DVR and browse the TV guide which is so easy to do in iPad than compared to TV. Also it gives an added advantage of scheduling DVR recordings outside your home whenever you remember to record your favorite show. Another great feature of iPad providing us not to miss the favorite shows. Only some of the cable providers in United States has the app feature supported for their service. Some of them are Optimum, Direct TV and Dish Network (using sling adapter).
