Blu ray player will be a great addition to HDTV especially to light those high definition pixels.
Currently Samsung,Sony and Toshiba has great blu ray players that also connect to Internet.
Sony playstation 3 (PS3)would be great choice as you can also play high definition games besides enjoying movies on Blu ray discs.
One thing I found very disappointing fact about blu ray discs or blu ray players is that they play picture with bars on top and bottom (No full screen picture). I did some research online and lot of forums discuss about this problem. One thing for sure we cannot change this using our settings in TV or Blu ray player.
Some movies on Blu ray discs come in full screen if their resolution format numbering starts with 1 and it is usually mentioned in the back of the disc cover. Most of the new release movies have this wide screen (with top and bottom bars) burnt on their Blu ray discs and their resolution format starts with 2.
We need to wait for this to change in future where Blu ray disc manufacturers can project the main picture to a full screen to fit your HDTV.
On contrary to this, it is surprising that some pay movie channels like Max and HBO are able to project the screen from wider to full screen. Movies are much more enjoyable especially on bigger flat screen with high definition pixels coming in full screen. Also regular channels like TNT,TBS,FX and ABC show movies in full screen format.
Best thing to do is to record those movies from movie channels using your DVR box and play them whenever you want. You can have a full screen HD movie lying in your DVR box that can be started with few clicks on your remote. Blockbuster has great 'disc by mail' program where in they rent out Blu ray discs. They also send DVDs and Games. This program is better than Netflix that only ships DVD's out. But Netflix has feature of on demand movie watching over the internet which is in expensive than that of blockbuster's on demand program.
I still prefer Blockbuster mail in disc program as it has Blu ray and games available. Even more to that if a Blockbuster store is near by, you can exchange unlimited number of discs directly in the store.

Latest blu ray players from Sony,Samsung and LG also have advantage of streaming video content from Internet. We can watch movies or TV series using streaming services from Netflix, Blockbuster, Hulu plus, Amazon video and Cinema Now. Remember we still need to subscribe to their services for a low monthly fee or in a pay per view model.
